Role Overview:

As part of Merchant Systems engineering organization, we build the Merchant app, Point of Sale app, tools for Stores and operations center. We aspire to provide fast and seamless order processing and management experience for our merchants.

You will be responsible for building core catalog and settlement systems for hundreds of thousands of merchants which directly impact the selection for millions of customers who order on the Coupang Eats platform. You need to closely partner with business stakeholders and deliver growth in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do :

As part of Merchant Systems engineering organization, we build the Merchant app, Point of Sale app, tools for Stores and operations center. We aspire to provide fast and seamless order processing and management experience for our merchants. You will be responsible for building core catalog and settlement systems for hundreds of thousands of merchants which directly impact the selection for millions of customers who order on the Coupang Eats platform. You need to closely partner with business stakeholders and deliver growth in a fast-paced environment.

• Serve as a key engineer who makes decisions on the system design
• Develop sustainable services to grow by designing scalable architectures and systems
• Build this ecosystem with exciting tech stacks such as Cloud Native (AWS), MSA, Spring boot, JPA, Elastic stack, Docker, Kafka, Redis, MySQL, Cassandra etc
• Obsesses over data consistency and availability to guarantee great merchant experience
• Taking responsibility of code review/design review, and raise up the bar of engineering excellence
• Collaborate and communicate seamlessly with team members and stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related fields

• Over 10 years of experience in back-end development
• Proficient in Java/Kotlin and Spring framework, data processing frameworks (Spark, Airflow, etc.)
• Competency in object-oriented design and big data processing
• Experience in designing, building, and operating catalog system, reporting system
• Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to drive clear and fruitful technical discussions
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Capability to mentor junior engineers and influence team architecture

Type of Work Model :

Hybrid - Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees. Employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week, depending on the role requirement. Some businesses may require more time in office due to nature of work.
