People Partner - Infrastructure & Physical
About the role
About Fluidstack
We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.
We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
How We Operate
- Extreme ownership. Full autonomy. Own things end to end often taking on scope outside your core role without being asked to get things done.
- Velocity. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.
- First principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.
- Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.
The People Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
- Build the people function from scratch, fast enough to keep up with 10x growth. We grew headcount 10x in the last year and we're not slowing down. You'll build the systems, programs, and team from nothing, and make them work before we outgrow them.
- Reinvent people operations around AI. Doing this by hand doesn't scale to a workforce growing this fast on a team this lean. You'll put AI at the core of how the function runs, so a small team supports many times its number.
- Own the culture and comms as the company scales. When a company scales this quickly, staying connected and aligned doesn't happen on its own. You'll own the internal comms, events, and rhythm that keep a multi-site team that's growing fast bound to a shared culture.
Role Scope
- Embed with operations departments across New York, San Francisco, and Austin, sitting in on team meetings, 1:1s, and planning sessions to read team dynamics before they surface as problems.
- Coach managers directly through their highest-stakes people moments: a first difficult performance conversation, a team restructure, or a direct report's career transition.
- Partner with the People team to roll out new performance, engagement, coaching, and onboarding systems, adapting each for field and multi-site operational realities.
- Surface department-level people risks, such as retention exposure or development gaps, to People leadership with clear framing and a proposed next step.
- Travel regularly to Fluidstack offices and field sites across your coverage area to build and maintain relationships with operations leaders.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would .
- You've partnered directly with managers on real performance and staffing decisions, not just administered HR process, and you can point to a specific conversation that changed how a manager led.
- You've supported people in operations, field, or multi-site environments and understand how site delivery pressure and cross-functional dependencies shape the people problems that show up there.
- You read team dynamics quickly enough to catch conflict, disengagement, or a capacity gap before it turns into attrition or an escalation.
- You deliver hard feedback directly and kindly in the same conversation, holding accountability and empathy at once rather than trading one for the other.
- You've built or adapted a people process, such as a performance framework or onboarding flow, for a specific business-facing team rather than only rolling out a company-wide system.
- Deal tracking, documentation, and follow-through are habits for you. Commitments made in a coaching conversation don't get lost by the next one.
Bonus: Experience partnering with infrastructure, datacenter operation, or manufacturing orgs through hypergrowth, where hiring velocity outpaced systems. Background in organizational development, coaching, or applied psychology.
Experience supporting managers through a new performance framework, comp change, or territory restructuring inside an operations org specifically.
